Los Sabores de Mi México, a ricreation of Frida Kahlo's Kitchen at Grand Central Park, New York

02 April 2024

The family of Frida Kahlo, along with the well-known Mexican soft drink brand Jarritos, present the inaugural Los Sabores de Mi México cultural exhibition, which promises to transport guests on an artistic voyage through Grand Central Terminal.

Frida Kahlo and Mexican culinary culture serve as inspiration for both the experience and the exhibition. The visitor enters a re-creation of the kitchen and living quarters of the Kahlo family, where never-before-seen images documenting the artist's personal and creative life are on exhibit. Reinterpretations of Kahlo's artwork and an interactive art workshop are just two of the exhibition's many must-sees.

The culinary aspect is actually not the only focus of the show, and many artists are involved in the project: the painter Karlo Arnauda and other young artists can be discovered in the website below, which describes the show in details.

The curator of Los Sabores de mi México is the historian Luis-Martín Lozano (interview at the YouTube video below), author of the homonymous book published last year in collaboration with the Mexican chef Mónica Patiño.

The exhibition will be on display in Vanderbilt Hall at Grand Central Terminal for four days, from April 4 to April 7.
