In this brand-new musical portrayal by Pulitzer Prize-winning dramatist Nilo Cruz and Grammy Award-winning composer Gabriela Lena Frank, Frida and Diego —also known for being notoriously tempestuous lovers—leap off the canvas.
Diego Rivera seizes the opportunity to ask for forgiveness when his wife Frida Kahlo and he are reunited on Day of the Dead thanks to a desperate wish. However, Frida won't go back to the place that gave her so much grief until a deceased person's memory prompts her to consider the artwork—and the man—that she once cherished.
In this homage to one of the most significant loves in history, resident conductor Lina González-Granados leads a cast full of international talent, including Daniela Mack, Alfredo Daza, and Ana María Martínez. The iconic paintings of the artists combine with a folklore-inspired soundtrack to revitalize Frida and Diego's love-hate story.
