"La cocinera de Frida" by Florencia Etcheves published in Italy: La cuoca segreta di Frida

The women of the Cruz family all have a destiny: to raise their daughters alone.
Paloma learned this the hard way: in fact, she heard about her father's one-night stand only once, like a passing shadow; a faceless and nameless man, who is better not spoken of. But when her grandmother Nayeli dies in a nursing home in Buenos Aires, Paloma discovers that this isn't the only secret from their past.
She finds a roll of burlap. Inside there is a painting, which portrays a naked young woman bathing in a river. However, a strange stain of red paint covers part of the canvas, as if someone had wanted to make it indecipherable. But even more mysterious are the words that Nayeli left for her granddaughter: “The story is worth more than the painting. History is the true work of art."
The investigation into that drawing will take her back eighty years, on the trail of a Mexican girl fleeing from her father's home, who arrives in Mexico City and thanks to her prodigious culinary skills she finds work at Casa Azul, where Frida Kahlo has lived since alone after her turbulent divorce from Diego Rivera.
