Moved from Naples to Bologna, this photographic exhibition and multimedia experience reconstructs environments, clothes and jewelry loved by the artist, projecting the public into a realistic dimension of her life, also as a woman.
Thirty-eight photographs, seven thematic areas follow one another in the majestic rooms of Palazzo Belloni, rooms that have been adapted, furnished in full Frida style. The photographs allow us to retrace the various periods of her turbulent life, from her youth, when the Mexican artist was inspired by the works of the great neorealist Diego Rivera who later became her husband, to death from illness and the great posthumous success when the pupil has far surpassed maestro Rivera, becoming one of the greatest performers ever.
And it is precisely on the relationship with Diego that "Artists in Love" - the documentary by Sky Arte media partner of the exhibition - focuses.
Also on display are some of Kahlo's dresses and jewels, as well as a reproduction of the famous mirrored canopy bed where, immobilized following a serious accideent, she made those self-portraits that later became her main popular feature.
The exhibition is produced by Next Exhibition and curated by Alejandra Lopez under the patronage of the Embassy of Mexico, the Consulate of Mexico in Bologna and the Emilia Romagna region.
