"I'm Frida Kahlo" - "Yo Soy Frida Kahlo" immersive exhibition in Santiago de Querétaro, Mexico

29 February 2024 | 31 August 2024

Following a triumphant tour through London, England and Washington, D.C. in 2022,  Yo Soy Frida Kahlo - presented by Museo Frida Kahlo - debuted in Querétaro on February 29.

Nestled in the heart of Mexico, Querétaro has become the first location in Mexico to host the immersive exhibition "I am Frida Kahlo," an unprecedented cultural event. Running for six months until August, this avant-garde exhibition offers a never-before-seen look at the lives and creations of Frida Kahlo (1907–1954) and her partner, the muralist Diego Rivera (1886–1957).

The exhibition, which features more than 300 photos and images, aims to captivate visitors' senses and immerse them in the world of these well-known figures from Mexican art and culture of the 20th century.

"I Am Frida Kahlo" is a first for Mexico and a component of a larger global project that has had comparable exhibitions in London and Washington, D.C.

Over 100,000 visitors from Mexico and abroad are the exhibition's goal, according to director Bernardo Noval, who is working with a number of organizations, such as the Bank of Mexico and the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature. This endeavor highlights the ongoing fascination with the lives and works of Frida and Diego, as well as their important contributions to the Mexican and international art scenes.

The exhibition combines auditory, visual, and smell components to create an immersive experience that takes visitors on a sensory tour through the couple's universe. In addition to a wide selection of images, attendees will see the newest developments in video mapping technology, which will bring the creative realms of Kahlo and Rivera closer to them. This strategy respects their creative heritage while presenting their work to new audiences in a modern manner.
