"Frida Kahlo - A Woman Who Dared" multimedia concert in Wilmette, IL on Sun, Oct. 4

30 September 2026

Linda Marie Smith creates a portrait of Frida's life through the use of cinematic projected imagery, storytelling, ensemble performance, and original songs.

The emotional pulse of "Frida Kahlo - A Woman Who Dared" is created by the music. The songs capture the intense passion, vulnerability, and resiliency that characterised Kahlo's life, moving fluidly between private contemplation and powerful tunes.
Each piece is carefully designed to highlight particular moment in Frida's journey, allowing viewers to experience the depth of her love, challenges, and constant dedication to leading an honest life.
The music, which is performed live with an ensemble, creates a profoundly immersive atmosphere by collaborating with vivid imagery and narrative.

Sorrowful melodies transition into uplifting sequences that reflect Kahlo’s talent for turning suffering into beauty and resilience. Beyond just an accompanying score, the music evolves into a dynamic story that embodies Frida’s essence throughout the show. It is emotionally charged, vivid, and unforgettable—an experience crafted to inspire audiences and honor the bold uniqueness of one of the most famous artists of the twentieth century.
Evelyn Spear's imagery depicts Frida's world on screen as the musicians play. Kahlo's creative passion, complex relationships, physical struggles, and the courage she brought to her art are all explored in the concert.
