"Muses", an encounter between Frida Kahlo and Sylvia Plath at Theater Wit, Chicago (US)
24 September 2026
"Muses" imagines a memorable meeting between two contemporary art icons, American poet Sylvia Plath and Frida, during which they share the most private and passionate moments of their lives.
Despite being separated by time, place, and culture, both women defied expectations and created artistic voices that are still relevant today. The theatre play examines art, identity, love, female freedom, and the price of defying social expectations through a visually arresting and intensely sensory staging.
"Muses" challenges viewers to engage in an intimate dialogue with two artists whose issues still seem unsafely contemporary. An unusual theatrical production that reclaims Sylvia Plath and Frida Kahlo as profoundly human voices.
