Frida Kahlo painting at the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art opening on Sep 22 in Los Angeles, US
05 August 2026
5-08-2026 Tickets have been on sale since 21 July for visits up to Feb. 28, 2027, to offer visitors more than 1,200 objects displayed across more than 30 galleries.
In addition to the Lucas Archives (Star Wars, Indiana Jones), George Lucas has amassed a collection of innumerable works over the past fifty years. Ranging from less conventional Japanese manga and vintage advertising prints to traditionally evocative paintings by Georgia O'Keeffe, Norman Rockwell, Charles White, the collection includes also Frida Kahlo's 1940 well-known painting "Self-Portrait Dedicated to Dr. Eloesser", purchased by the museum in 2021 as part of its expanding modern and contemporary narrative art section.
George Lucas and his wife Mellody Hobson have referred to their project as a "temple of people's art." Paintings, statues, comic books, movie props, photography, and films that are on display in on-site theaters are all part of what Lucas refers to as a "tasting menu".
