Frida Kahlo 's 119th birthday celebration in Omaha, Nebraska, US from 6 to 25 July

03 July 2026

A Frida-inspired exhibition, organized by Jose Francisco Garcia, will bring paintings, sculptures, works on paper, tapestries, photographs, prints, and posters to Omaha to commemorate the 119th birthday of the Mexican painter.
The commemoration, organized by Jose Francisco Garcia, will bring together local artists and cultural spaces in South Omaha with ties to Mexican, Mexican American, and immigrant histories.

The exhibit will feature Frida Kahlo's prints and posters, as well as José F. Garcia's presentation "Forever Frida."
The project connects Frida's image to Omaha artists working in various visual disciplines. The exhibit also continues a series of cultural events that have linked South Omaha to Mexican memory, immigrant history, and the community's artistic expressions.
This program honoring Frida Kahlo's legacy includes participation from the South Omaha Museum of Immigrant History, the Mexican American Historical Society of the Midlands, and the Linda and Jose Garcia Legacy Fund.
