Frida Kahlo in the special mural for the FIFA World Cup 2026 painted by Houston artist

The Houston artist Jatziri Barron was chosen to create and paint a mural for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after submitting an application for an artist call. Her mural depicts famous artists like Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Frida Kahlo, and Vincent Van Gogh as soccer supporters.

"I've been working till 3, 4 a.m. almost every day. I'm tired, and I can't wait to finish this. But at the same time, I'm just like, so freaking excited. It's really amazing when you have a World Cup coming from people all over the world, and they can all relate to someone and some artists here in Houston. It's an honor. More than anything," Barron said.

The mural is located in Houston, at the De Luxe Theatre, in the historic Fifth Ward district.
