"Frida letters", theater show by the Italian actor Daniele Monterosi in Bergamo, Italy on Sep 3

11 June 2026

On stage for the 24th edition of the ‘deSidera Bergamo Festival’ "Frida letters" is a theatrical journey exploring the life of the Mexican artist through the reading and interpretation of her original letters.

The show offers an in-depth look at the figure of Frida Kahlo, starting with an analysis of her private correspondence. Through the reading of letters written by the artist throughout her life, the event aims to reveal the painter’s humanity beyond her iconic image.

The performance is brought to life by Daniele Monterosi, who gives voice to the texts in a direct dialogue with the audience. The performance is accompanied by the vibrant notes of the live Mexican guitar by Marco De Santis  and alternates between moments of narration, reading and interpretation, oscillating between irony and poetic depth.

The project is the result of Monterosi's research into the original letters, conducted in part during a period of study at the Casa Azul in Coyoacán, Mexico City, where Frida Kahlo lived and worked. The show lasts 70 minutes.

Daniele Monterosi is an Italian actor known for “House of Gucci” directed by Ridley Scott,  “The Saints” by Martin Scorsese,  and many cinema’s and television’s productions. He plays roles of power and wound, with delicacy and intensity, performing in Italian, English and Spanish.
