‘Frida Opera Musical’ in the 2026/2027 theatre season at the Teatro Rossini in Pesaro, Italy

08 May 2026

From 25 to 28 Feb 2027 the Teatro Rossini will be staging this powerful and visionary musical that weaves together art, revolution and passion.
"Frida Opera Musical" tells the extraordinary story of Frida as feminist icon and rebellious spirit of a turbulent era. The production brings to life a profound and vibrant portrait of the painter who transformed pain into colour and fragility into creative power. The opera blends the power of musical theatre with the visual impact of the world of painting.
The audience is immersed in post-revolutionary Mexico, amidst ideological upheaval, mural art, European influences and key figures such as Zapata, Trotsky, Breton and Tina Modotti, to name but a few. It is a collective journey into the heart of an era marked by a desire for change, in which Frida lives with audacious authenticity.

The relationship between Frida and Diego is the beating heart of the narrative: a boundless, radical, imperfect love that becomes both an alliance and a clash, passion and ideology—a bond that endures through infidelity, triumphs, and personal and collective revolutions. Providing the backdrop is the colourful, joyful and irreverent Mexico of La Catrina, where life and death dance together to the rhythm of art; a Mexico with Aztec roots in which music envelops everything and everyone in a continuous ode to life.

"Frida Opera Musical" is a hymn to the freedom to be and to the courage of art.
It is a declaration of love for life, even when it hurts.
"Frida Opera Musical" is Frida and the world she set afire with her gaze.
