The choreographic piece produced by Komoco is inspired by Frida Kahlo’s famous painting "The Two Fridas".
The performance delves into an exploration of the complexities of identity, human vulnerability, and the chaos that characterizes existence—themes that Kahlo herself masterfully expressed through her art and her life.
The Two Fridas from 1939 stands as a symbol of duality, inner conflict, and the experience of being fragmented yet capable of recomposition. This painting becomes the core of the performance, in which two dancers explore the tensions between two versions of the self, bound by suffering and awareness, yet separated in their emotional experiences.
On stage are Paolo Piancastelli and Adriano Popolo Rubbio, whose contribution transcends the realm of dance, integrating the experience of movement with an emotional and sensory vision. Together, the artists offer a profound interpretation of Frida Kahlo’s world, transforming the performance into a total and immersive aesthetic experience. Through a continuous interplay of closeness and distance, they are the protagonists of a physical dialogue that will touch the most intimate chords of human fragility, traversing moments of conflict, but also of encounter and acceptance.
Through gestures that are both delicate and powerful, the performance presents an authentic, unvarnished portrait of vulnerability, in which the chaos of life becomes a force for transformation and acceptance. The acceptance of oneself and of the chaos that accompanies every human being becomes the central theme of a universal reflection on the human condition.
