The Dolores Olmedo Museum, located in Xochimilco, Mexico City - reopens on May 30

25 March 2026

The museum owns the world's largest collection of Frida Kahlo artwork and 148 pieces by Diego Rivera in this iconic location that is one of the city's most significant cultural venues.
In order to improve the visitor experience and protect its legacy, the Dolores Olmedo Museum has undergone extensive restoration and modernization since it closed in 2021. The museum is renowned for its colonial architecture, gardens, and the presence of peacocks and xoloitzcuintles.
The digitization of pre-Hispanic and folk collections, the preservation of archives and the library, the development of new areas, technological advancements, and the building's structural reinforcement are noteworthy examples of the work completed.
In order to maintain the experience's sensory appeal and cultural significance, efforts have also been made to preserve the area's natural surroundings and famous animals.

Tickets will be available for purchase at the box office or online via the museum's new website starting from the 30th of May.
