The immersive exhibition "Frida Kahlo: Women Experiences" opens today at Mestizo Chelsea, London

25 February 2026

Officially supported by UN Women, the project seeks to investigate the feminist, artistic, and personal legacy of Frida. Taking place in the lower level of Mestizo Chelsea on King's Road, the event blends real Mexican food, visual art, and an empowering message.

Visitors can view never-before-seen photos and real letters from Frida Kahlo in the exhibition, which sheds light on her personal life and creative process. Kahlo's relationships, emotional landscape, and lasting influence as a feminist icon are better understood thanks to these materials, which are rarely displayed outside of Mexico.

A five-course Mexican tasting menu inspired by Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera's wedding banquet is available for guests to enjoy in after the art experience. Mestizo Chelsea's menu offers a historical perspective on Mexican cuisine from the early 20th century by reinterpreting dishes from their 1929 wedding. Traditional Mexican spirits are highlighted with a tasting of Teremana tequila and mezcal.

The project, which was created in collaboration with UN Women, aims to use Kahlo's legacy to advance discussions about gender equality and the elimination of violence against women.
