Richmond Ballet's Kahlo-inspired show opens the new season at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts
13 August 2025
Piensa en Mí (Think of Me), a world premiere by artistic director Ma Cong, will open the season inside "Moving Art One: Passion & Power".
Trey McIntyre's contemporary ballet, Wild Sweet Love, will also have its Virginia premiere at Moving Art One.
The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) will host both ballets as part of Moving Art One from September 11 to September 21.
"Artistic Director Ma Cong embarks on an extraordinary new creation inspired by the life and art of Frida – an icon of resilience, passion, and unflinching self-expression. Through striking movement and vivid imagery, Ma’s unique and powerful interpretation of the legendary painter’s inner world will transform her pain, love, and artistic brilliance into an unforgettable ballet."
