The Frida Kahlo Museum – La Casa Azul in Mexico City presents the Conference "Conociendo a Frida Kahlo" inviting the public to rediscover the artist's life through the personal objects kept in her home.
In 2013, the renowned Japanese photographer Ishiuchi Miyako gained access to a very personal part of Frida Kahlo's universe: her most intimate objects. The result was a photographic series that connects the sensibilities of two women artists, from Japan to Mexico.
Miyako Ishiuchi, renowned for her poetic and profound gaze, shares her experience capturing Frida's clothing, prosthetics, and intimate items in natural light and without intervention, revealing an intimate and moving visual narrative.
The conference is being held in collaboration with the Japan Foundation in Mexico and the Embassy of Japan in Mexico, with simultaneous translation from Japanese to Spanish.
During the event, a temporary exhibition featuring six photographs from the “Frida by Ishiuchi” project will be on display, internationally recognized for its sensitivity and respect for Frida's legacy.
