Peoria (Arizona - US) is hosting a week-long guest artist residency dedicated to Frida Kahlo

30 May 2025

In her one-woman production, "Frida…A Self Portrait," actress Vanessa Severo will share her thoughts on the life of artist Frida Kahlo during a week-long guest artist residency presented by the City of Peoria's Arts, Culture, and Library Services Department.

From June 2–7, 2025, there will be four free events that the public is welcome to attend, as well as performances and workshops all over the city.

Severo, who received training at Missouri State University and The American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco, was recently named United States' Cultural Ambassador in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

She has won several important honors, such as the Dramatist Guild Grant and the Fox Foundation Fellowship. "Frida…A Self Portrait" by Severo delves into the life of the Mexican artist whose poignant self-portraits redefined resilience, femininity, and identity.
