The show "Frida Kahlo - Il ritratto spezzato" in Florence - Italy on 10,11, 26 and 27 June

30 May 2025

"Frida Kahlo - The broken portrait" by La Compagnia delle Seggiole  is a theatrical show with music and songs, written by Fiammetta Perugi and directed by Sabrina Tinalli.
A powerful and intimate story, where the artist's paintings are transformed into words and music, with live actors and mariachis to convey all the visionary strength of an indomitable woman.

Frida herself narrates her story on stage, describing her childhood filled with physical suffering, illness, loneliness, and artistic rebirth. Every scene is based on a painting: animated self-portraits, symbols that become actions. Voice turns into resistance, and painting turns into voice.
The passionate and turbulent love for Diego Rivera also comes to light in this personal and potent tale, mirror and fire, companion and wound. Frida tells her story to be seen—whole, alive, and irreducible—rather than to be understood. A confessional, ritualistic, and combative show.

The live music of "El Mariachi el Magnifico de Florencia," featuring Beatriz Oyarzabal (voice and vihuela) and Guido Menestrina (voice, guitar, and guitarron), is played while the actors Fabio Baronti, Anna Collazzo, Chiara Macinai, and Silvia Vettori are on stage.
Adriana Lopez and Paola Santin created the scenographic elements, while Silvia Avigo and Fiammetta Perugi designed the set.
