Danila Stalteri will play the role of Frida Kahlo, with dramaturgy and direction by Maurizio Nicastro. To enrich the theatrical experience, the evocative notes of Fabio Falaguasta's guitar, Raffaele Filaci's rhythmic percussion, and the vibrant sounds of Filippo Mollicone's trumpet will accompany the emotional journey into Frida's world.
Premiered nationally in September 2022 at the Palazzo della Cultura in Catania for the Catania Summer Fest, the show is an emotional journey inside Frida Kahlo's mind, dreams and fragility.
The use of videomapping enriches the scene, allowing the protagonist to visually interact with images of her memories, nightmares and deepest desires.
‘Hasta Siempre, Frida!’ is not just a play, but a true prose portrait, capable of revealing the more human, fragile but unwavering side of the painter who transformed pain into art and continues to fascinate entire generations.
Danila Stalteri passionately shares her experience of playing such an iconic role: "After entire seasons of being a comedian, becoming Frida Kahlo was one of the most intense experiences of my career. Putting aside the fact that there is no such thing as a ‘comic’ or ‘dramatic’ actor, entering Frida's tortured body, her broken heart, her lacerated soul, and at the same time her unbreakable strength, allowed me to plumb even more deeply my own being as a woman and an artist, at times misunderstood". The Roman actress emphasises a parallelism with her own experience in the world of theatre: "In my own small theatrical world, in fact, I too am sometimes seen as a crazy, visionary woman, and like Frida I am fuelled by an indescribable passion for my art. You cannot help but love Frida and you cannot help but come to know her even more deeply and pay homage to her in the theatre!"
