Frida Kahlo Art and Legacy: exclusive virtual event on 8 March organized by Dr Sarah G. Powers

25 February 2025

Celebrate International Women's Day joining Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) curator as she delves deeply into her research for the upcoming exhibition "Frida: Beyond the Myth" running at VMFA from April 5 to September 28, 2025.

With an emphasis on the crucial part that Kahlo's personal mythology played in forming our perception of her as one of the most famous artists of the 20th century, Powers will provide insights into Kahlo's life and art. After the presentation, Powers will have a lively discussion with Laura Hoffman, director of digital engagement at NMWA. They'll talk about the NMWA's collection of Kahlo's private correspondence and how technological advancements are changing how we relate to artistic personal narratives.
