10 February 2025
The performance will be provided at Phoenix's Symphony Hall from February 13 to February 16, 2025.
"Frida" was choreographed in 2020 by Belgian-Colombian award-winning choreographer Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, who has produced over 100 pieces for 80 dance companies across the globe.
British composer Peter Salem composed the show's score, which includes a range of Mexican instruments, and renowned Dutch designer Dieuweke van Reij designed the costumes and set for the one-time event. To make the design come to life for the performance, Ballet Arizona also hired a muralist in addition to a scenic charge artist.
According to a press release from Ballet Arizona's artistic director Daniela Cardim, "Frida is a powerful ballet that will stay with audiences even after they leave the theater." We are honored to have been chosen by Annabelle Lopez Ochoa to present the U.S. premiere and eagerly await its debut on our stage. From its striking sets and costumes to its enthralling choreography, Frida provides yet another lens through which to experience this enigmatic artist and icon.”
