Cvgebird's eagerly awaited music video for "FRIDA TRAP" was released in 2021. Cvgebird honors the Mexican surrealist painter, poet, and political activist Frida Khalo by taking us on a tour of her hometown through the contemporary prisms of art, poetry, music, culture, and history. This cinematic masterpiece is set in modern-day Philadelphia and is heavily influenced by Khalo's Latinx-Indigenous heritage as well as the artist's longstanding ties to the city. In FRIDA TRAP, Cvgebird creates a visual hymn that finds the convergence point of our collective battle with the encouragement on joyful revolution.
Cvgebird has toured on worldwide stages and has received 5 official film selections for this short-film music video, an ode to Frida Kahlo, promoting freedom and identity expression.
"It feels honorable to rep for my city, rep for my culture and to get outside of the stigmas and stereotypes that come with being a Latina, Puertorriquena from the city," said Cvgebird.
