Castellammare di Stabia - Naples will host this performance that explores the life and art of Frida Kahlo on 18 October.
"The show focuses on the artistic life of Frida Kahlo, including some of her writings, and deals with her stormy relationship with Diego Rivera, one of the most important muralists of the 20th century," explains the author.
The performance sees De Angelis, author of the texts, as narrator, accompanied by Salvatore Torregrossa, who plays accordion and percussion and has composed the original music inspired by Frida's life, and Matteo Franza on trumpet. Projected images visually reinforce several parts of the performance.
The live painting, on the other hand, is by Marinella Veropalumbo.
Through an intense narration that mixes autobiographical and artistic elements, the show aims to bring out the figure of Kahlo not only as an artist, but also as a woman, marked by pain and passion.
The troubled love affair with Rivera is one of the central themes, a relationship that profoundly influenced Frida's artistic career and that continues to entertain and fascinate audiences around the world.
This performance, rich in meaning and depth, does not just entertain. It also intends to make viewers reflect, stimulating them to consider art from different points of view. The combination of narration and music is intended to create a unique atmosphere in which guests can fully immerse themselves in Frida's life and works.
The performative synergy between word and melody is a distinctive characteristic of De Angelis -book writer and master of storytelling - who succeeds in immersing the audience in an artistic experience that goes beyond mere entertainment. With ‘L'altra metà di Frida’, spectators will have the opportunity to see a further incarnation of this artistic partnership, in a context that succeeds in paying homage to two great names in art.
