The show features eighteen photographs taken in Mexico City by German photographer Julia Fullerton-Batten which display the artist's tenacity and power.
By utilizing vivid outfits and distinctive locations, the images present Frida Kahlo in a fresh light and give us a contemporary view of the artist. Julia Fullerton-Batten produced them with the help of Mexican producers, a local costume designer for movies, and models. They gave her exclusive access to special locations and authentic costumes from the city of Oaxaca. For instance, the Island of the Dolls in Xochimilco, ancient haciendas, and an abandoned mansion.
With a modern twist, the exhibition, curated by João Kulcsár, lets us explore Frida Kahlo's remarkable world.
