The goal of this festival is to identify and bring together all the women who are promoting visual art worldwide in one place. Increasing the visibility of female artists worldwide is the aim of the International Women's Art Festival "FRIDA" event. This is a fantastic event that will highlight the amazing ART of women, as well as the beauty of female artists from all over the world who converse, share, and exchange views.
The orgnizers decided to name this event after Frida Kahlo because she was a strong, talented artist best known for her numerous self-portraits. Her paintings, in which she displays her physical fragility, are autobiographical: feelings, suffering, illness, political concepts, and consciousness of her Mexican identity and customs. She conveys in her paintings her passion for life, her ability to overcome obstacles in life, and her love of using art as a vehicle for expressing intense feelings.
Following the same spirit, Frida Khalo festivals are held worldwide in a variety of artistic genres.
150 artists from 40 countries have translated themselves onto the canvas. They were free to interpret personally the competition through their own sensivity. A thorough selection process was conducted in order to present a comprehensive exhibition of exceptional works to the public, following an open call for female artists to participate, with the only requirements being that they be female artists and display works on paper.
Of course, the evaluation involving the three prizes for the three pieces chosen by the jury and the award for the best young Albanian artist was one of the most significant aspects of this activity.
Three prominent figures in the field of visual arts comprised the jury: Dr. Nadja Zgonik, a Slovenian artist, critic, and art professor; Ikbal Bushati Kalaja, a former dean of the Shkodër Faculty of Art; and Najada Hamza, a curator, artist, and professor at FAB Tirana.
German artist Irena Paskali won first prize, followed by the Italian artist Ninfa Pema and Polish artist Dorota Bujak in third place.
Ema Bregu was the recipient of the "Best Young Albanian Artist" honor.
